Hopefully everyone had a wonderful Halloween! I'm sure you took lots of great pictures so hopefully sketch #52 will inspire you to put your best shots together and create a wonderful layout!

TITLE: Greenbluff
DESCRIPTION: We finally made it to the pumpkin patch for the year! The American Crafts Halloween collection really worked well with my photos!

JOURNALING: Every year we go to Greenbluff farm and spend the day picking our pumpkins along with hanging out together doing the fun things the farm has to offer. We had so much fun this year! We got great pumpkins, stuffed our faces with yummy food, stood in line for over an hour to get homemade donuts, and took some fun photos too!

Effects: Background JBS paper was inked (Old Paper, Tea Dye and Walnut Stain) using Prima's Swaney Collection flower packaging as a mask. Buzz and Bloom chipboard was sprayed with Glimmer Mist (Brown Suede, Mimosa, Marshmallow). Flowers were cut out of FPD's Simplicity:Shape papers, inked in Tea Dye and sprayed with Glimmer Mist in Iridiscent Gold. Circles were punched out of FPD paper scraps and corrugated cardboard to get the "balloons". Tabs were punched using McGill Square Tab punch. All pieces were inked in either Tea Dye or Worn Lipstick distress inks. Photos were inked in Vintage Photo distress ink

Description: While I do not celebrate Halloween, I thought of the numerous cravings for food found back home and how they "haunt"me. So a little layout about how I cope with this incessant cravings.
Journalling: Yum! Be it Malay, Indian or Chinese cuisine, these have been sorely missed, while living here in Canberra. Without the option of having delicious takeaways readily available, the best thing to do is to cook them myself! So yeah to nasi lemak, fish head curry and wanton mee . all piping hot from my

TITLE- Miserable
DESCRIPTION- This is not exactly a Halloween layout but I wanted to record my gal's first Halloween Party. We had just moved to Shanghai and she had just started school for 2 weeks before we were informed of a Halloween party for the kids and their parents. When I went to school to visit her, she was all miserable and missing home back in Singapore and she just sat by her grandparents' photos which were pasted in class. Even the trick or treating and all the goodies didn't entice her much.

Journalling: The amount of Asian food we've had since arriving has been astonishing! From Vietnamese (1), to Singaporean (2), porridge (3), Dim Sum (4), Japanese (5) and Thai (6). Contrary to what we were told, we've yet to miss much of the food back home. As for Aussie food, there's always the sizzle! All totally delicious!

Description: Before we left Singapore, we were told by many out of good intention of ccourse, that we'll find ourseleves missing all things Asian... To our surprise, there are many decent Asian eateries here too! From the first meal we had when we arrived (porridge) to dim sum (our last fanciful meal in Singapore), they can all be found here. Of course, we love a great sizzle while basking under the sun on a cold winter's day too!

Description: In the midst of rushing about town to get to rental done, we realised that the weather was glorious and cast amazing shadows by our feet. Description: I've mirrored the sketch again for this week. This is to record the moment where I made the decision to run 5km at the women's only SHAPE' Singapore run 2008. It's a satisfying moment for myself to have completed the race.

Description: I had a lot of fun with the layering of this sketch. I had recently found these pictures in my bag from last year's Valentine's day. They weren't spectacular (love the shiner my kid has in the lower right hand picture) so I wanted to use my supplies to make them look more Valentinesy. I stayed pretty close to sketch, only shifting a few things around. Enjoy!

A huge welcome to this weeks Guest Designer Stacy Koo from Singapore! Stacy is currently working as a Regional Service Engineer in Olympus Singapore, and in her free time loves to play around with different coloured papers and scrap! If she's not scrapping she's clicking away, on her camera. Her love for scrapbooking started sometime back last year, but she was mainly doing 6x6 LOs themed in the diary form. As she got aquainted with scrapping, she was encouraged by Sophia to start the 12x12 LOs, and so it started together with Pink Sketches! 

How does Stacy describe her scrapping style? 

"My style revolves around the theme and the mood actually. I'll try to have no fixed style, since I always loved a variety in my LOs. But I guess I work well with subtle styles, and more than often, it's simple and straightforward. I'm still new to SB, so I'll explore more to find out which style really suits me! :) But my best friend in SB is really the cutterbee scissors...."

Description: I'm in the midst of compiling my pictures under the theme Just Me. The pictures are taken during a recent haircut. I was asking my boyfriend to use a word to describe me.. The title tells you his answer...

Description: In the midst of all the workload and anniversary, I actually forgotten about my best friend's birthday. As such, I decided to make up for the mistake by making her a LO... Inspired by the sketch, I made some division in the single photo into 3 parts and fliped the bottom title part up. It's a mini version of the sketch.  

Journaling: The best kind of friend is the friend who kept cool despite the fact that I forgot it was her bdae and dragged her to shop with me for my anniversary present... SORI.

Title: About a Boy

Description: All the photos taken of my boy during a family photo-shoot were well taken. So to bring focus to one of the photos, I printed the rest of them out in antique mode, leaving only the portrait shot in color. I made a play with my stash of buttons to form a bracket and doodled around them. Inspired by Ali Edward's love for monograms, I used one for my boy's name and played with the journalling that for each line which coincides with the letter 'D', it will start with a word beginning with 'D'. I've also doodled,cut out and inked the clouds from scraps of pattern paper.

Journalling: Daren dares to be different, doing what he loves most & not afraid to do it differently in the way he plays or even thinks! What a lil DUDE!! Love Mummy.

Pink Sketch #10

Pink Sketches is so excited to introduce it's first guest designer Cabbie Lopez from Manila, Philippines. Cabbie is a stay at home mom to 4 active boys ages 10,6,5,4. She is married to Romeo, her husband of 10 years, also a physician. Cabbie is a physician by profession but opted to be with her kids for the meantime. Aside from scrapbooking, she also loves to read books and collect journals.  Cabbie was also named the Philippines' first Scrappinmoms' Idol held last year ( 2007).

So how does Cabbie describe her scrapbooking style? "I usually do shabby chic layouts but i can be flexible too. I love to incorporate techniques and details and am open to exploration of new ones. The subject of my layouts are basically my kids. I also love to alter stuffs and do minibooks. Inks are my best companions!"

Title: Brave Boy

Description: Took me quite some time to find a good picture to match the beautiful sketch. I decided to use journal tags as accents because they go well with the multi-pics. Not only do they come linear but the focal point is justified using the sketch. My two colored title uses contrast as a way to focus and to add substance. Black felt flowers were placed on the left side for balance. Overall, the shabby look of the paper unified the whole layout with focal elements emphasized. 
Journaling: " At first, Aedan was quite afraid to get near those plants but after awhile he went on his own and began to explore those colorful flowers. What a brave boy!"

Title: Mini Me

Description: In view that I was scrapping my childhood photos and thinking up of the title "Mini Me", I thought it would be fun to "shrink" the sketch and place if off-centre on my 12 x 12 page, to show the mini version of the sketch!

Journalling: This is me when I was a little girl. Mini Me! I was born on 10th July 1980 & these photos were taken in the early 80s. I'm thankful that babywear then were free from the outrageous 80s outfits & hairdo! LOL! I just love these baby shots of myself that I just gotta scrap about it as part of my memories!!

It's hard for me sometimes to journal on a layout... is it "neat" enough? Am I saying just want I want to say?? But I encourage it! Even if you hide it, tell the story!!

 

I also just the "Fragile Handle With Care" on the paper, as part of the title... Though we traveled to get our daughter, that phrase means more than just shipping a package! :)

Description:
I did this page for two reasons: 1/ I LOVE these pictures of my daughter! They really show her personality. 2/ The kid can really wear us out. I don't know where she gets all the energy... At the end of the day, I am trying to stay awake sitting on the couch and she's bouncing off the walls! She's just got so much life inside that little body trying to get out.  So, this page is to document 2/ while using 1/... 
I used the central theme of the sketch: using rows of blocks to display my pictures. Then, instead of the little mini blocks, I used paper strips to show my journaling. I guess I stayed pretty true to the sketch, eh?

Description: I took these fun pictures establishing a new going to school tradition: we buy school supplied and then go do mini-golf & go carts. We had a ton of fun, even if Annde put her ball in the pond on Hole 2 and they barely fit in the race car...

I took the sketch and rotated it onto it's side. I then combined 2 of the blocks into one to be able to use more pictures. I still popped up 2 of my favorites. Then I traded the smaller side block for the journaling tags. Add some doodling and embellishments and it's complete.

Description: I found some old pictures of my parents lying around while I was unpacking, so I wanted to put them to good use. The older pictures are from back when they just started dating, and the more recent picture is one of them a couple of years back. I wanted to show the growth they've made together as a couple.

Description: I am just not afraid to use flowers with my boys... if you tend to hesitate, try these lollipop flowers by Prima... I changed the color combinations from two different packages to make a match. Boys can appreciate the beauty of flowers too! You can make your own, too, out of denim, or Prima has some denim and red and white combination flowers that might be nice to try with boys too!
